About Balcony Solar Guide

Balcony Solar Guide explains balcony and plug-in solar in plain language: where it's allowed, what it costs and what it saves.

How we research

• Every state page lists its sources and the date we last checked it.
• We link to the bill on the state legislature's site wherever we can.
• When trackers disagree on a date or limit, we say so instead of picking one.
• States with pending bills are re-checked every month.

Not legal advice

Our pages summarize laws for homeowners and renters. For your exact situation, check your state's law, your utility and your lease or HOA rules.
